5 Tips for Brainstorming Blog Content

So you have decided to launch a blog for your business website. Now what? In order to be successful, you will need to generate a consistent flow of interesting content for your blog. Many business owners understand the importance of regular blog posts, but they run out of new ideas for blog posts or worse yet, don’t know where to start.

Here are 5 tips to help you get started with your blog content:

1.Be a problem solver. Offer solutions to the problems facing your target demographic. Provide questions that nobody else in your niche is answering. Sit down for an hour and create a list of problems to solve and questions to answer.

2.Be an active listener. Every day is a new opportunity to find great topics for your blog. All you need to do is work on becoming an active listener. Listen to what your prospects and customers are saying to you. Spend time each day making notes on what you’ve heard from people and use the notes to generate blog posts.

3.Agree to disagree. In every niche, there are accepted practices, but in order to stand out, you need to be a rule-breaker. What rules do you break in your niche? Write about the unique perspective you offer to the niche you serve. People are always interested in new ideas and how they compare with accepted norms.

4.Identify trends. Trends come and go. You can curate trends for your target market. Don’t be afraid to take a stance on even the hottest trends. Is the hottest new trend on the market a waste of money? Don’t be afraid to tell your customers the truth. They will appreciate it and look to you for advice when a new product, service or idea hits the market.

5.Read articles related to your niche. Compile a list of recommended reading for your target market and offer your insights on each article. You can use this list to write round-up style blog posts for your readers. Make these posts a regular segment on your blog and your readers will look for them each week.

Grab a cup of coffee and relax. There’s nothing more terrifying than a blank document staring you in the face. Just start typing and worry about whether what you type is any good later. Devote a block of time each day to write a blog post for your business blog.
